Laboratory testing

Biochemistry, hematology, immunology, microbiology and rapid tests. Results within 1–2 hours.

The Laboratory Department at Ky Hoa Medical Center is one of our key pillars, providing accurate and timely results to support clinical doctors in diagnosis and treatment monitoring. Modern equipment and strict quality control processes ensure the reliability of each test result.

Who is it for

The Laboratory Department serves patients who have test orders from doctors, participants in periodic health checks, as well as individuals who want tests based on personal requests without a doctor’s referral (on-demand testing).

Key Services

  • Hematology: Complete Blood Count (CBC), erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), basic coagulation tests.
  • Biochemistry: Blood glucose (fasting, postprandial, HbA1c), lipid profile, liver function (AST, ALT, GGT, bilirubin), kidney function (creatinine, urea, uric acid).
  • Immunology and Endocrine: Thyroid profile (TSH, FT3, FT4), cancer markers (CEA, AFP, CA 19-9, CA 125, PSA), Hepatitis B/C profile.
  • Microbiology: Bacterial culture, antibiotic susceptibility testing, urinalysis.
  • Rapid tests: COVID-19, Influenza A/B, Dengue, H. pylori.

Process

  1. Receive test order: The clinical doctor issues a test order form after the examination. For on-demand service tests, contact the reception desk to be advised and receive a form.
  2. Specimen collection: Nurses collect venous blood, urine, or other specimens as required. The procedure is sterile, using single-use needles, ensuring absolute safety.
  3. Analysis and quality control: Samples are analyzed on automated systems, and results undergo internal quality control before approval and release.
  4. Result return: Common test results are returned within 1–2 hours. Some specialized tests may require 24–48 hours and will be notified in advance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to fast before a blood test? It depends on the type of test. Fasting blood glucose, lipid profiles, and some biochemistry tests require fasting for 8–12 hours. CBC and many other tests do not require fasting. The doctor or laboratory staff will guide you specifically when you receive the test order.

Can test results be sent to my phone? Currently, results are printed and handed over directly at the Center or attached to your medical record. You can contact the hotline at 028.3868.1097 to ask about alternative ways of receiving results in specific cases.

Can I request a test without seeing a doctor first? Yes. The Center accepts on-demand service tests without a doctor’s order. However, it is recommended to consult a doctor to select the appropriate group of tests for your health monitoring needs.
