Diagnostic imaging is an essential paraclinical step that gives doctors the basis for accurately assessing conditions inside the body. At Ky Hoa Medical Center, ultrasound, X-ray and endoscopy services are performed on a modern equipment system, with results read by imaging specialists and returned the same day.
Who it’s for
Diagnostic imaging services are for patients referred by a clinical doctor during their examination, people undergoing periodic health checkups, and those who need periodic ultrasound to monitor their pregnancy.
Key components
- General color ultrasound: Abdomen (liver, gallbladder, pancreas, spleen, kidneys), thyroid, breast, soft tissue, vascular system
- Obstetric ultrasound: Pregnancy monitoring by trimester, fetal morphology ultrasound
- Digital X-ray (DR): Lungs, spine, limb bones, joints and other sites as clinically indicated
- Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy: Esophagus, stomach and duodenum using a flexible endoscope
- Lower gastrointestinal endoscopy: Colon and rectum
Process
- Receiving the referral: The clinical doctor writes the referral slip. The patient brings the slip to the paraclinical desk to register their order of service.
- Preparation before the procedure: Abdominal ultrasound requires fasting for 4–6 hours. Gastroscopy requires fasting for at least 6 hours. Colonoscopy requires bowel preparation with an oral solution as instructed the day before. The technician gives detailed guidance at registration.
- Performing the technique: Ultrasound and X-ray are performed in dedicated rooms, usually completed within 15–30 minutes. Endoscopy is performed by appointment, taking 20–40 minutes depending on the type.
- Receiving results: Ultrasound and X-ray results are returned the same day. Endoscopy results include images and a written report, with the doctor providing consultation right after the procedure.
Frequently asked questions
Is ultrasound safe for pregnant women? Ultrasound uses sound waves, involves no ionizing radiation at all, and is confirmed to be completely safe for both mother and fetus. It is the standard method of pregnancy monitoring recommended worldwide.
Is X-ray dangerous? Can I have X-rays multiple times? Modern digital X-ray uses a very low radiation dose and is safe for adults when performed as directed by a doctor. Pregnant women should inform staff beforehand so the doctor can weigh the decision. You should not order X-rays too frequently on your own without a medical reason.
Is gastroscopy painful? Can it be done without sedation? Standard gastroscopy causes only mild discomfort, not much pain. If you are anxious or have a strong gag reflex, discuss the option of short sedation with your doctor for a more comfortable experience. Contact the hotline 028.3868.1097 for advice before booking.
