Digital X-Ray

Digital X-ray imaging of the whole body, chest, and bones and joints on a fully digital X-ray system for fast, accurate results with a low radiation dose.

Ky Hoa Medical Center is equipped with a modern digital radiography (DR) system, allowing X-rays to be taken at a lower radiation dose than conventional film X-rays while still ensuring high image quality. Digitized images are stored electronically for easy retrieval and can be sent to specialist physicians for reporting - films are returned in a short time, supporting fast and accurate diagnosis.

What digital X-ray covers

  • Chest X-ray: screening for pulmonary tuberculosis, pneumonia, and pleural effusion
  • Bone and joint X-ray: assessing fractures and dislocations after injury
  • Spine X-ray: checking for degeneration, scoliosis, and the cervical and lumbar vertebrae
  • Abdominal X-ray: supporting the assessment of bowel obstruction and radiopaque urinary stones
  • Facial sinus X-ray: supporting the diagnosis of chronic sinusitis
  • General X-ray as part of health check-up packages and pre-operative work-up

When you need an X-ray

  • Injury with a suspected fracture or dislocation after an accident or fall
  • Cough lasting more than 3 weeks or persistent fever requiring exclusion of pulmonary tuberculosis or pneumonia
  • Chronic back or neck pain requiring assessment of the bone and spinal structure
  • Chest pain requiring screening for pulmonary and cardiovascular conditions
  • Routine chest X-ray in an annual health check-up package or as required for employment

The procedure

  1. Receiving the referral: The patient brings the X-ray referral from the physician or registers for imaging within a health check-up package at the reception desk.
  2. Preparation and guidance: The technician guides the patient into the appropriate standing or lying position, asks them to remove metal objects, and briefly explains the imaging process.
  3. Taking the image: The scan itself takes only a few seconds - the patient needs to hold still and hold their breath as instructed at the moment of exposure.
  4. Reporting and returning the film: A diagnostic imaging physician reads and writes the report; the film and results are returned the same day, together with an explanation for the treating physician and the patient.

Frequently asked questions

Is digital X-ray dangerous? Digital X-ray uses a significantly lower radiation dose than conventional film X-ray. When performed according to proper medical indications, this level of radiation is considered safe, and the diagnostic benefit far outweighs the risk.

Can pregnant women have an X-ray? Pregnant women should inform the technician and physician before the X-ray. When it is truly necessary, the abdomen can be shielded with a lead apron to protect the fetus.

How long does it take to get X-ray results? With the digital system, images are processed immediately after the scan. Results and films are usually returned within 30–60 minutes of the examination.
