Laboratory Testing

Biochemistry, immunology and hematology testing systems supporting diagnosis, specialist examination and routine health check-ups.

The Laboratory Department at Ky Hoa Medical Center performs biochemistry, hematology and immunology tests for clinical diagnosis, treatment monitoring and routine health check-ups. Automated analyzer systems allow rapid sample processing and same-day results, giving physicians enough information for accurate diagnosis and treatment.

What the laboratory tests for

  • Hematology tests: complete blood count, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, blood typing
  • Biochemistry tests: blood glucose, blood lipids, liver and kidney function, uric acid
  • Immunology tests: hepatitis B and C, HIV, syphilis, CRP, TSH and thyroid hormones
  • Urine tests: full urinalysis and sediment analysis
  • Stool tests: parasites and intestinal pathogenic bacteria
  • Advanced tests as indicated by specialist physicians

When you need testing

  • As indicated by the physician after a clinical examination
  • Annual routine health check-ups - especially from age 40 onward
  • Monitoring the progression of chronic diseases: diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia
  • Before surgery or procedures requiring an assessment of general condition
  • Screening for infectious diseases and pre-employment health checks

Testing process

  1. Receiving the test order: The patient brings the test order from the physician or registers a test package at the reception desk; the nurse checks and confirms the tests to be performed.
  2. Sample collection: The nurse draws venous blood or collects urine or stool samples according to the requirements of each test, ensuring asepsis and correct technique.
  3. Sample analysis: Samples are processed and analyzed on automated systems; abnormal results are rechecked before being released.
  4. Returning results: Results are returned the same day or within the committed time depending on the test - the patient can receive them directly or through the ordering physician.

Frequently asked questions

How long must I fast for a blood test? For fasting blood glucose and blood lipid (lipid panel) tests, you should fast for at least 8–10 hours before the blood draw. Other tests such as complete blood count and liver and kidney function do not necessarily require fasting - the physician will give specific instructions when ordering.

How long until test results are ready? Most routine tests have results within 2–4 hours. Some immunology or microbiology tests may take 24–48 hours - the specific time will be advised when the sample is collected.

Can I come for testing on my own without seeing a physician first? A test order from a physician is required to perform tests. If you don't have one, you can register for an examination at Ky Hoa first so a physician can advise and order the appropriate tests.
