Ky Hoa Medical Center provides general medical examination, emergency care, and a wide range of specialties, making it convenient for patients to come in for examination, monitoring, and treatment.
What a general examination covers
A general examination is the first point of contact: the doctor takes your history, performs an overall physical examination and works out which organ system the problem belongs to. From there, the doctor may treat it directly, order investigations to clarify things further, or refer you to the appropriate specialty within the same visit. In short, a general examination means you do not have to guess which department you need.

When to choose a general examination

- Several problems in different parts of the body at once, and you would like them looked at together in one visit
- Everyday illnesses needing examination and medication: colds and fever, cough, abdominal pain, headache, allergies
- You need tests or imaging but are not sure which ones are appropriate
- You are bringing an elderly parent and want to limit travelling between different places

Examination process
- Reception: Take a number at the desk and present your identification, plus your health insurance card if you are visiting under insurance.
- Vital signs: A nurse measures pulse, blood pressure, temperature and weight, and records the reason for your visit.
- Initial examination: The doctor takes your history, examines you and decides on treatment or which specialty to refer you to.
- Investigations if ordered: Laboratory tests, ultrasound or X-rays are carried out at the center.
- Conclusion and treatment plan: The doctor explains the results, prescribes medication or advises on monitoring at home, and schedules a follow-up if needed.
The center is open Monday to Saturday, 06:30 to 11:30 and 13:00 to 17:00. If your condition requires a technique beyond the center's approved scope of practice, the doctor will say so clearly and guide you through the next steps, including referral procedures if you are visiting under health insurance.
How to prepare before your visit
- Personal identification; your health insurance card if visiting under health insurance
- Your current prescription or a photo of the packaging, including supplements
- Your medical record book, previous test results or imaging films
- A few written notes about your symptoms: when they began, how they have changed, what you have tried
- If blood sugar or blood lipid tests are likely, fast for at least 8 hours and drink only plain water
Frequently asked questions
How does a general examination differ from a periodic health check? A general examination starts from a problem you already have: the doctor examines you to find the cause of your symptoms. A periodic health check is done while you feel well, following a prearranged checklist to detect changes before they cause symptoms. The two complement each other rather than replacing each other.
What if I do not know which department I need? Simply come to the reception desk and describe your situation. Staff will arrange an initial consultation, and the doctor will decide whether a referral to a specialty is needed. You do not have to choose in advance.
Can I see more than one specialty in a single visit? Usually yes, if those specialties are running that session and your condition allows it. Coming early in a session and mentioning it at reception helps staff arrange a sensible order and reduce waiting between rooms.
Can I use health insurance for a general examination? Ky Hoa Medical Center is a primary care facility under contract with Ho Chi Minh City Social Insurance. Please bring your health insurance card and identification, and our reception team will guide you. Details are on our Health Insurance page.
